Yup, i agree, and in fact, i am having a girlfriend who is older than me. And we are doing very good. Seriously, the age thingy is kind of retarded. Who cares how old your other half is? The most important thing is you two love each other.
Younger and older doesn't really matter to me since love is a feeling. Why the debate of age difference between 2 others in a relationship? It should be more of the question of wheather you allow the society, community or culture to control your decision or make your own decision since its your life. Take charge of your life and choose the way how you want to live it, not letting others dictate how you live your life.
If i really meet a destined one and she older than me, i would not think it's a problem. However for me i would prefer a girl who is not 2 years older than me. Like what hearty say, too much a age difference might lead to communication boundary

I think theres too much shallow beliefs here... If really feelings can overcome everything it can work for some and it can't work for others... Everyone is different, everyone puts up a different behavior to accomodate the environment he/she is in. Its up to each individual to either let the society influence your decision or go against it.
